Relato de un Estallido es un registro visual de grafitis y murales capturados en Santiago de Chile durante las protestas sociales que marcaron al país entre octubre de 2019 y marzo de 2020. Lo que comenzó como una protesta contra el aumento de las tarifas del transporte público se convirtió en un movimiento masivo que exigía dignidad, justicia social y el fin de la desigualdad estructural, marcando un punto de inflexión en la historia reciente de Chile.
El proyecto construye una narrativa a partir de las múltiples y diversas expresiones que surgieron espontáneamente en el contexto de las manifestaciones, convirtiendo las paredes en lienzos. Cada trazo y cada mensaje son un testimonio de una ciudadanía que expresa el descontento de un pueblo que lucha por su dignidad.
STORY OF AN UPRISING
Relato de un Estallido is a visual record of graffiti and murals captured in Santiago, Chile, during the social protests that marked the country between October 2019 and March 2020. What began as a protest against increased public transportation fares turned into a mass movement demanding dignity, social justice, and an end to structural inequality, marking a turning point in Chile's recent history.
The project constructs a narrative from the multiple and diverse expressions that emerged spontaneously in the context of the demonstrations, turning walls into canvases. Each stroke and each message is a testimony to a citizenry expressing the discontent of a people fighting for their dignity.
“Relato de un Estallido” (Story of an Uprising) is a book printed in Santiago, Chile, in 2020 and designed by Local Ediciones. It brings together 42 analog photographs captured with a Nikon FM10 camera and Fujifilm C200 film, which sensitively and powerfully document a historic moment. The first edition consisted of 80 copies, and the second of 200 units, of which you can still get yours.
